Engineering Building Remodel

Before / After

Entrance Locations

Description

In this project I designed a complete remodel for an existing architecture and engineering department in a college called Diablo Valley College. Our goal was to open the building up to the rest of the campus since the existing building is very closed off and not well known across the college students. With our design, not only students are drawn to explore this building, but their experience is also enhanced with our light control and fluid circulation.

Plans

While designing this building, I was limited by a few limitations such as keeping the trees, the existing courtyard, and the existing site. With these in mind, I then focused on circulation, light, wind, and programming while keeping the goal of this project of having it be inviting to the rest of the campus. After many reiterations and failed designs, I ended the project with this design.
